Heart Center Services

Saint Mary's Hospital and Waterbury Hospital have partnered to offer the full complement of cardiac services, through their unique collaboration - The Heart Center of Greater Waterbury.

Services are available at each of the Heart Center campuses - Saint Mary's Hospital and Waterbury Hospital- and are provided by local cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons.

Services include:

• Angioplasty - elective and emergency
• Cardiac Catheterizations
• Cardiac Rehabilitation
• Cardiovascular Unit for post-procedural recovery
• Echocardiogram testing
• EKG testing
• Emergency Room treatment of acute cardiac issues
• Holter monitor testing
• Implantable Defibrillators
• Pacemaker insertion
• Stress testing
• Open Heart Surgery including
• Coronary Artery Bypass Graft Surgery
• Valve Repair Surgery



Depending on the type of service required, a patient may be seen on an outpatient basis or an inpatient basis. Your physician can help you to determine the type of services you require for your medical needs. This means that residents of Greater Waterbury communities may choose at which hospital they want to receive their cardiac care.




In addition to the clinical care offered the Heart Center also provides Community Outreach and Education. This is a free service to local community groups and can cover a wide range of topics including heart disease, cardiac risk factors identification, support group participation and featured speakers.
